Our Mission
The Road to Healing Aotearoa exists to support survivors of sexual harm, strengthen community responses, and advocate for system-level change.
Founded by survivor and advocate Sam Troth, the movement raises awareness, promotes early support, and works to ensure safe, trauma-informed pathways to recovery.
Petitions
Minimum 8-year sentence for sexual offending — sponsored for Parliament hearing.
Ban on character references during sexual offending sentencing.
These petitions advocate for stronger accountability, survivor protection, and a justice system that recognises the impact of sexual harm and supports survivor advocacy in Aotearoa.
Retreats
Men’s retreats and workshops provide safe, inclusive spaces for healing, connection, and empowerment. These programmes combine peer support, cultural values, and practical wellbeing tools to help men move forward in their recovery journey.
Local Hero Medal
Sam has been recognised with a Local Hero Medal for his dedication to breaking the silence around sexual harm in Aotearoa. This award honours the countless hours he has spent walking, speaking, advocating, and standing with survivors and their whānau.
It’s a moment of recognition - but also a reminder of why this mahi matters.
